A couple of years ago, I was prepping some students for our local MTNA evaluations. They understood the symbols and could match them up easily but could not recall the symbol to draw them. I created a couple of symbol pages that can be inserted in wipe-off sleeves or even page protectors for practice at home. If you print these double sided, the answers are on the back so that the student can just flip over and check their work.
Students sometimes find it helpful to start on the opposite side so that they can trace the symbols first. This is useful as an in-class activity or an independent activity for 20/20/20 lessons. I have also used it as a homework assignment for some students. For some reason, they really love a wipe-off board of any kind.
I hope you find this useful in your studio.
